It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has accomplished all there is.

It needed as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the chance.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven global championships have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not come up short.

Whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it was a frustrating experience because it appeared I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive nature kick in and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there the batsman was in motion.

"An opportunity to play and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the final thing rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this triumph succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as leader.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
